Don’t let the wind tossing your hair frazzle thoughts of flying

I believe this was written circa 2009 while living in Cardiff by the Sea, but I can't be sure. I think I was planning my escape to the Bay Area. An adventure that is still unfolding.

Don’t let the wind tossing your hair frazzle thoughts of flying

By Julie Gengo

Fly through the trees
Don't let the antagonists stop you
When angels fall they shed their wings
Grab hold of them and fly

Move through strangers like never before
Slipping in between cracks
When you have to,
When the bleachers won't do

Venture into different topics
And slices of lives from afar
Even those where the rust has
Created a cloud cover

Don’t let the wind tossing your hair
Frazzle thoughts of flying

Take the blues, the broach, and the bell-bottoms
The cloaks, the crayon, and clovers

Whatever you do,
Do it for the honeysuckles
And the succulent sound
Of people making love

Do it for the distant souls
And dissidents
Closed up in a box

Do it for the life you have,

And the freedom you have yet to discover
