The Last of the Wildflowers
By Julie Gengo
The last of the wildflowers
Sway in fog infused wind
Brown branches sit in solace
Once covered with color
And kissed by light
Now standing in nakedness
Out of sadness comes rest
Reverberating sounds echo off abstract art
Blue light haunts
quieting conversations
Wine shimmers
under boxed light
gently placed above
the ledge
whimsical fingers from night sky
ease through trees
and windows
children sleep
amidst toys and cats
passing peace into dreams.....
Patterns of my DNA
floating in the river
and on the dress
in the window
once worn by someone else
Eucalyptus shedding skin
like tears from past loves
sliding into indifference
Open and bare
Surrendering to the unknown
Nice message in a box
Hanging on by strings
Reversing the flow of NOs
Rough surface touches skin
